About Us

Sentinel was created to apply new technology that focuses on affordability and ease of use for PFAS treatment systems in water and wastewater. The leaders of Sentinel come from backgrounds in the water industry and have significant PFAS and media filtration experience.

Our leadership identified problems utilities are facing with PFAS and developed approaches for how to make PFAS treatment projects more seamless. Our team identified several ways to improve design and permitting of systems, along with improvements for installation and operations. We then developed technologies to improve treatment systems. By combining all the innovative approaches into one company, we are able to help utilities get into compliance without it being such a burden. Backed by patent-pending ways of using time-tested GAC and IX filtration systems, we now offer complete PFAS treatment systems for sites across the US.

Solutions

Engineered for Tight Spaces and Real-World Site Constraints

Many PFAS treatment sites have very limited room for equipment. Sentinel specializes in designing compact, scalable systems that maintain high performance even in the smallest available footprints.

Custom Configurations for Space-Constrained Sites

We design systems around your constraints with options such as:

  • Low-profile systems
  • Small-diameter polymer vessels
  • Skid-mounted or containerized systems
  • Simplified piping layouts
  • Configurations to reduce media waste and changeout frequencies

Polymer & Steel Vessel Choices

Depending on the site needs and budget, we offer vessels constructed from:

  • Polymer (lightweight, cost-effective, ideal for smaller or rental systems)
  • Steel (durable, customizable, suitable for larger installations)

Vessel Swap Programs

For sites lacking space, backwash disposal facilities, or staff to assist with media changeouts, Sentinel provides complete vessel swap logistics, including:

  • Pre-loaded and pre-rinsed replacement vessels
  • Coordinated delivery and removal
  • Minimal downtime
  • No on-site handling of spent media

Optimized Media Selection

Access to multiple GAC and IX options allows us to reduce vessel sizing and extend media life while fitting into small footprints. We also provide optimization support for existing systems, and have rapidly-deployable test equipment to assess if a new media, mixed media, or pre-treatment change will improve your system.

Minimal Ancillary Requirements

Where backwash or wastewater handling is limited, we design systems that minimize water waste and avoid additional permitting hurdles.

Clear Support Where Engineers Need It Most

Our goal is to ensure site constraints never become project barriers. We work with engineers to provde:

  • Exact sizing and compatibility guidance
  • Assistance with developing drawings and specifications
  • Commissioning support and operator training
  • Simplified controls and automation options

Advanced Multi-Vessel Configurations

Three-Vessel Systems (Lead/Lag/Polish Roughing Filters)

Our Roughing Filter approach is ideal for maintaining effluent quality and providing operational flexibility during media changes.

Parallel and Redundant Trains

Options for continuous operation even during maintenance or peak demand.

Automation for Operational Ease

Sentinel provides:

  • Automated valve trees
  • Flow control systems
  • Remote monitoring and SCADA integration

Automation reduces operator workload and enhances uptime.

Media Flexibility for Complex Water Quality

With access to multiple GAC and IX media suppliers, along with NSF-certified reactivation, Sentinel selects the most cost-effective and performance-optimized option based on:

  • PFAS species distribution
  • Influent organic loading
  • Fouling potential
  • Breakthrough modeling
  • Long-term lifecycle costs

These elements are part of the process—not afterthoughts.

Granular Activated Carbon (GAC)

We evaluate multiple GAC options and match them to site conditions based on:

  • EBCT requirements
  • Organic loading
  • Expected media life
  • Backwash disposal options

Ion Exchange (IX)

We offer several IX resin types, helping you select based on:

  • PFAS characteristics
  • Water chemistry compatibility
  • Changeout intervals and lifecycle cost
  • Backwash and rinse water disposal options

Hybrid Treatment Approaches

Sometimes the best solution is a staged or combined GAC/IX system—customized to your site’s water quality.

Automation Options

  • Automated valve trees
  • Remote monitoring
  • Data logging and alarms
  • Lead/lag auto-switching
  • Full SCADA integration

Automation increases reliability and operator confidence.

Vessel Swap Services

A turnkey solution for sites where on-site media handling isn’t practical. Sentinel handles:

  • Swap scheduling
  • Delivery of pre-loaded and pre-rinsed vessels
  • Removal of exhausted vessels
  • Media disposal or reactivation logistics

Pilots & Ready-to-Ship Pilot Skids

For sites needing validation before full-scale design, we provide:

  • Rapid-deployment pilots
  • On-site pilot setup and training
  • Performance data reporting
  • Optimization recommendations

Rental Options

To meet urgent, temporary, or budget-constrained needs:

  • Renal pilot systems
  • Rental tanks
  • Rental treatment systems
